It is with profound sadness that we received the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth yesterday afternoon. We are thankful for her service to this country in which so many Lutherans have found a sanctuary and made a home. We are grateful for her example of a steadfast presence through challenging times and her humble Christian faith. We pray for Queen Elizabeth, may God rest her in peace. In 2022 the LCiGB Council appointed a committee to make recommendations to the Council about candidates for a bishop to succeed the Rt Revd Tor Berger Jorgensen, who will retire at Synod 2023. This committee has prepared a Person Specification and a Commission (job description) as the basis for considering possible candidates. These two documents are uploaded. On Saturday, July 2 the LCiGB approved an updated Safeguarding Policy. Jeff Trinklein, LCiGB Chair says, “Safeguarding the most vulnerable in our congregations is everyone’s responsibility, and we encourage all congregations to review the new policy carefully.” The new Safeguarding document is available on the Congregational Resources page. We are thrilled to announce a three-year partnership with the Council of Lutheran Churches to provide financial support to the LCiGB. Over time, the CLC has provided financial support to the LCiGB for a variety of programs, so the LCiGB and the CLC have worked together on a “block grant” for each of the next three years that will support our current programming and give us additional financial stability.
