In 2022 the LCiGB Council appointed a committee to make recommendations to the Council about candidates for a bishop to succeed the Rt Revd Tor Berger Jorgensen, who will retire at Synod 2023. This committee has prepared a Person Specification and a Commission (job description) as the basis for considering possible candidates. These two documents are uploaded.
The Synod will be invited to elect the next bishop, as the LCiGB constitution requires, and the Council intends to recommend a candidate or candidates to Synod. All Ministers of this Church who have been ordained for five years or more and are eligible to be called as the senior pastor of a congregation shall be eligible to stand for election.
If you would like to be a candidate for election as bishop, or to suggest a candidate, please inform us in writing by 5 September 2022. A letter may be sent to the Search Committee of the LCiGB at the office address, or you can inform us by email, using the two addresses given below.
If you would like to suggest someone from another Lutheran church who is not at present a licensed pastor of the LCiGB, please send us the person’s name and contact details.
If you have any questions about the process, please feel free to contact us. The financial arrangements for the employment or engagement of the next bishop are still under consideration.
Yours sincerely,
