Summary of the Council meeting, July 2, 2022

We are thrilled to announce a three-year partnership with the Council of Lutheran Churches to provide financial support to the LCiGB. Over time, the CLC has provided financial support to the LCiGB for a variety of programs, so the LCiGB and the CLC have worked together on a “block grant” for each of the next three years that will support our current programming and give us additional financial stability.  We are extremely grateful to the CLC for its support of our ministry.

We also recognize the extraordinary efforts put in by Rakesh Patel, who was the LCiGB Treasurer for the maximum term of nine years.  Rakesh resigned from the LCiGB Council effective with the Annual General Meeting in April.  Conrad Volker has stepped into Rakesh’s role, and we are grateful for Conrad’s contributions.

The LCiGB also approved an updated Safeguarding Policy, which will be posted to our website and circulated to the congregations.  Safeguarding the most vulnerable in our congregations is everyone’s responsibility, and we encourage all congregations to review the new policy carefully.  We are also hoping to arrange a Zoom call for anyone who has questions with Sue Kehle, our Safeguarding officer, and on-line training resources are available through our partner the CLC.

Jeff Trinklein,

Chair of the LCiGB
