The Church’s Prophetic Voice: Naming and Resisting Evil in Society, War and the Climate Crisis
The Council of Lutheran Churches was delighted to host the final day of the United Reformed Church’s theological consultation with its partner church, the Evangelische Kirche der Pfalz in Germany, at St George’s German Lutheran Church.
Entitled “The Church’s Prophetic Voice: Naming and Resisting Evil in Society, War and the Climate Crisis”, the consultation took place from 7–10 October 2026. The programme at St George’s included an introduction to the church’s history by Anette Jäger, a member of the Friends of St George’s. She highlighted the London congregation’s role in supporting Protestants who had to flee Nazi Germany.
Our General Secretary, Pastor Meelis Süld, was glad to lead morning prayer and welcome Oberkirchenrat Markus Jäckle of the Evangelische Kirche der Pfalz, pictured in front of the altar, and our former German pastor and CLC trustee, Bernd Rapp, pictured in front of the church.
The consultation concluded with Holy Communion, followed by a pizza lunch in the church’s committee room.
