On the 6th of July Bishop Paulina, Dean Laura, and Pastor Joseph visited the Lutheran University Chaplaincy in Birmingham. Lutherans have been gathering at the chaplaincy in Birmingham for many years now under the faithful leadership of Pastor John. The day began with a service of Holy Communion at mid day followed by lunch and a meeting with the parish council.

Bishop Paulina preached on the psalm for the day and spoke about how we are called to sing in both joy and sorrow to God – just as the birds of the air do. Pastor John led us in singing, including many Taizé chants, and it was a beautiful experience of singing with fellow believers – just as Bishop Paulina spoke about.

After the service the parish provided a wonderful lunch and we all got a chance to chat and get to know one another. Following this Bishop Paulina, Dean Laura, and Pastor Joseph spoke with the leadership of the Lutheran Chaplaincy about the future and planning for Pastor John’s retirement in the future and how we might see things going in the future.
Our next visitation will hopefully be in Liverpool!
